For the past 10 years, a large goshalla consisting exclusively of only pure "Gir" breed cattle, from the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, is being maintained at ISKCON Baroda. At present we have approximately 40 animals in the goshalla, which include milking cows, calves and bulls.
Members of the public contribute to the maintenance of the goshalla by donating grasses - both fresh and dry, gur, oil, and feed for the animals.
Sri Sajanbhai Bharwad and his family look after the cows, rendering the sacred animals service "above and beyond the call of duty". On the day of "Annakut", an annual "gopuja" is conducted along with kirtan at the goshallas.
